“I love the people I photograph. I mean, they’re my friends. I’ve never met most of them or I don’t know them at all, yet through my images I live with them.”
“Hi my name is Mensan Rodrigues and Michu is my nickname. In 2005 I attended my neighbor’s wedding when I was 13 years old my neighbor’s brother gave a small digital camera to take their family photos. I kept that camera in my hand for the whole day after the wedding the professional photographer called me up and said are you interested to join our wedding team.? I just smiled and said I need to speak with my father the photographer came and spoke to my father, but unfortunately my father didn’t allow me to join with their amazing team as I was still studying in school. I was bit lazy to wake up and to study my subjects, but although I was good in playing football all day all night.
But one day I had a dream to become a professional photographer and capture people’s moments. In 2017, I completed my professional course of digital photography in Stenodac Academy Of Professional Photography And Digital Imaging. Soon later I decided I’ll create my own brand. One day I saw a name in my dream popping up and saying that you should keep Michu Art Studio for your photography business. Soon I decided I’ll keep Michu Art Studio as my brand name.
In 2023 I joined as photographer on MSC cruise ship. It was a great experience I had wellbeing taking photos of every guest, kids, families to make their vacation more memorable. I always carried my camera with me and also traveled with free of cost in different countries like Spain, London, Australia, Chile, Italy, French Caribbean, Bora – Bora Island, Netherland, Norway, Greece, Panama, Iceland, Southern Caribbean, France, Portugal, Ireland, had lots of memories and captured them in unique way which will last forever. Soon Later I got married and moved to UK with my beautiful wife.
After 10 years later I’ve come to realize that it’s not the business side, nor the artistic side of this weird, awesome job that I love the most It’s the opportunity to meet different, incredible couples, people from all over the world and connect over one of the most important days of their lives. Only to slowly fall totally and completely in love with it. It’s a privilege to create images that families, couples, kids, will keep forever and above anything and everything else, I want them to look at their photographs and remember, even decades down the line, the joy and love they felt on that day. I want to create photographs that matter. At Michu Art Studio, the focus is not just on taking pictures; the aim is to tell stories through visual art. I enjoy a creative challenge and trying different projects and styles.
The Story
Of Dean & Cirla’s Wedding
Dean spoke first. His voice wavered at the beginning, but steadied as he continued.
“I promise to choose you,” he said. “On ordinary days. On difficult days. On the days when love feels effortless and the days when it asks for patience. I choose you in all seasons.”
Cirla smiled through tears as she answered.
